Contributor Day

WordCamp Pisa 2025 consists of two days:

  • On Friday, there is the Contributor Day, where you can actively engage with the WordPress Community.
  • On Saturday, the conference takes place, and you can attend many interesting talks.

What is Contributor Day?

It is a day dedicated to all those who want to actively contribute to the open-source WordPress.org project, even if they have no prior experience.

If you are already familiar with the process, you can share your knowledge with first-time attendees or continue working on activities planned in the days leading up to WordCamp.

Like all open-source projects, WordPress is continuously updated and improved by people worldwide who dedicate some of their time to it. This is a fundamental part of the success of our favourite CMS.

If you have never contributed to an open-source project before, Contributor Day is an excellent opportunity to try, connect with the vibrant Italian WordPress Community, and start making a real contribution.

Experienced members of the Community will help you settle in and guide you through the process.

Be ready to work side by side with people from Italy and abroad—it will be an unforgettable day!

When and Where

Contributor Day will take place on Friday, 21st November 2025, at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Pisa, on the second floor of Building C in the Fibonacci complex, Via Filippo Buonarroti, 3, 56127 Pisa PI (Google map). Registration opens at 9:00 AM, and the day’s activities will conclude around 5:00 PM.

Lunch

No need to worry about coffee and lunch—we’ve got it covered!

How to Register for Contributor Day

To participate, you must purchase a WordCamp ticket and, during the purchase process, indicate that you intend to join the Friday Contributor Day. In that case, you will receive an email to redeem your free ticket. Unfortunately, the available seats at the Contributor Day tables are limited; if the dedicated section does not appear during the purchase process, it means that all spots have already been taken.
Please note: it is not possible to take part in the Contributor Day without the specific ticket. Having a conference ticket and having indicated your intention to attend the CD will not be enough.

If you have registered for Contributor Day but can no longer attend, please inform us so that we can offer your spot to someone else.

Limited Availability

Just to highlight this again—places are limited, and participation must be selected when purchasing your WordCamp ticket.

Who Can Join?

Anyone! From beginners to experienced professionals.

Workgroups

You can sit at any workgroup table and switch during the day. Our approach is relaxed and inclusive, so don’t worry!

Not sure if there’s a group for you? Here are some examples of contributions you might not have considered:

  • Testing beta versions before new releases
  • Organising events like Meetups and WordCamps
  • Reading and/or editing documentation to make it clearer
  • Writing marketing copy
  • Translating documentation, themes, plugins, and WordPress itself
  • Uploading suitable photos to the WordPress directory
  • … and much more!

At Pisa Contributor Day, you will find some of the key workgroups, but you can also ask how to connect with other teams.
